Summer Solitude in the South Carolina Mountains

Updated: Nov 4, 2021

Summer is the season of freedom and getaways, and the South Carolina Mountains are the perfect place to experience that feeling of freedom that only summertime can create. Come experience a place with hundreds of waterfalls, scenic mountain vistas, beautiful lakes, and your perfect summer vacation. The South Carolina Mountains are calling, and they can't wait for you to visit!

Where to Stay:

Day 1

Treat yourself to a homestyle breakfast at Garren's Cafe in the charming town of Pickens, SC.

Lace up your hiking boots and hit the trails! The short trail to the overlook at Glassy Mountain will give you stunning views of The Blue Wall. Afterwards, you can also take a trip to see Twin Falls.

For lunch, savor one of the best burgers you've ever tasted at the Pumpkintown General Store.

After lunch, take some time to explore downtown Pickens and stop by some of the shops on Main Street, or peruse the wares at the Market at the Mill. If you'd rather immerse yourself in Appalachian history, take some time to explore Hagood Mill.

After exploring, head up to Jocassee Valley Brewing Company for delicious local brews, live music, and more. Check their Facebook page for more events on bands and food truck schedules!

Day 2

Hitch a ride on the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River! Schedule a rafting trip on the Chattooga with Wildwater Ltd to experience one of the most thrilling days of your life.

After a long day of rafting, pizza is the perfect companion. Stop by Humble Pie for a mouthwatering pizza that will satisfy your post-adventure cravings.

Day 3

Take a stroll around Chattooga Belle Farm for beautiful views, u-pick fruits, disc golf, and so much more! If you find yourself wandering around this beautiful place until lunch time, stick around and have a bite at Belle's Bistro.

After lunch, explore one of the nearby waterfalls in the area. A few of our favorites are Issaqueena Falls, Long Creek Falls, Yellow Branch Falls, and Reedy Branch Falls.

To end the day, head up to Sassafras Mountain for a stunning sunset that you'll want to relive again and again.
