We’ve heard it before, “I’ve just got to get out of the house!” Well, just because school has started, doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! Here are some great ideas to explore Lake Hartwell Country with the kids.
If you’re feeling like taking a nice little day trip on the weekend to celebrate a birthday or even the first week of school, head over to the Bart Garrison Agricultural Museum. They have several interactive exhibits your kids will love, including some animal friends that would love to meet you! Learn the history of the Upstate and explore the grounds of Woodburn Plantation, just a quick walk from the museum.
There, you will be greeted by a four-story clapboard plantation house built in 1830, nestled on twelve acres of land. You can schedule a tour of the home by calling the office or by visiting their website. You can also hike the nature trail for even more insight into the property’s history.
After the tour, grab some lunch in downtown Pendleton. There are so many options to choose from, but with kids, make it easy and cheesy. Grab a slice of pizza at Brooklyn Style Pizza on the square and treat the whole family to Mama Rae’s Ice Cream Shoppe across the street! They have over 25 flavors of pure goodness that are guaranteed to make everyone’s day a little sweeter.
If you’re feeling like you need to wind down after a fun-filled day, then take a look at the show schedule at The Clemson Little Theatre. Upcoming performances of Blithe Spirit, a smash comedy hit on the London and Broadway stages, will show September 2-11, 2022.
