Social Distancing in the South Carolina Mountains

Updated: Oct 13, 2021

A term you might be hearing all too often at the moment is "social distancing". With all of the extreme measures that have been put into place because of the Coronavirus scare, it can be difficult to find any activities to do that don't involve other human beings.

Luckily, in Lake Hartwell Country, social distancing is pretty easy. We've created a list of ways to get out of your house and enjoy our region in the midst of these crazy times.

Take a Hike

Ahhhh... hiking, a relaxing activity that only requires you, a pair of hiking shoes, and a trail to follow. There are several great hiking trails in Lake Hartwell Country, and you can read more about them here. As long as your hiking party is less than 10 people, this is a perfect way to be socially distant!

Visit a State Park

Our amazing South Carolina State Parks are open to the public! Each one in the region offers something a little bit different, depending on your social distancing style. For breathtaking hikes and mountain views, head to Table Rock or Oconee State Park. Are you more of a lake life person? Then you'll definitely want to check out Sadlers Creek, Lake Hartwell, Keowee-Toxaway, or Devils Fork State Park. There's something for everyone!

Go on a Scenic Drive

The great thing about a scenic drive is that you never have to leave your vehicle to enjoy the ride. There are several beautiful roads in Lake Hartwell Country that will take you through the rolling pastureland of Anderson County, up into the beautiful mountains of Oconee and Pickens Counties.

Go Camping

Some say that camping is good for the soul, and we would have to agree. There are many great places to go camping in the South Carolina mountains. Whether you want to hitch up the RV or pitch a tent in the middle of the woods, you'll be able to find what you're looking for here! The best part? You'll be social distancing while also experiencing the perfect mountain getaway.

In all seriousness, please take precautions to stay safe and healthy during this time. If you are planning a trip to get away from this hectic world and step into some normalcy, consider getting away to Lake Hartwell Country. For more information, take a look around our website or keep up with us on Facebook and Instagram. We'll see y'all soon - from a distance, of course.
